History
Established as a formal partnership in 1999, with Beverley Baer, CPA and Elwin Shapiro, CPA as managing partners, Shapiro Baer has continued to build and diversify its practice providing a full range of accounting services to both personal and corporate clientele.
Our Mission
Our highest priority is to build and foster effective working relationships with our clients. This is achieved through the hands-on involvement of our partners working closely with each client to properly assess their needs and provide individualized solutions. Value-added services that go beyond the traditional complete our comprehensive range of services. Should the scope of a client’s mandate go beyond our in-house expertise, an extensive network of outside resources will answer any and all needs.

Beverley Baer has been working in the field of accounting for over thirty years. She is a graduate of the McGill University Chartered Accountancy Program. Beverley began her career working with small and medium sized businesses. Through working one-on-one with each client, she soon began to focus on their personal as well as corporate needs. Beverley has garnered expertise in both corporate and personal accounting and tax with a keen interest in the needs of seniors and estate planning.
Launching Shapiro Baer S.E.N.C. in 1999, Beverley has continued to watch her client list grow through her dedication and unique personal touch for each and every client. She keeps abreast of any modifications in accounting practice by attending seminars and conferences and prides herself on giving back to the community by supporting organizations such as the Kiwanis Club. Beverley goes beyond the traditional accountant-client relationship.
Elwin Shapiro holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from McGill University and became a member of the Order of Chartered Accountants in 1983. He began his career as an associate with an established accounting firm where he specialized in both personal taxation and small business accounts. His wealth of knowledge and years of service propelled him to form his own firm, Shapiro Baer S.E.N.C. where he has continued to build his wide portfolio of individual and corporate clients.
Elwin believes in giving back to the community and continually supports local and national charitable causes. Honoured by several community organizations, Elwin has also been featured in the Montreal Gazette newspaper and CPA magazine.
Aniceto (Nitch) Pedicelli, a tax specialist for over 30 years, has acquired extensive experience in Research and Development tax credits as well as estates and personal tax. His expertise has allowed him to successfully act as a liaison between clients and governments to settle disputes. Perfectly trilingual (English, French, Italian), Nitch offers a fresh perspective towards solving tax issues.
Kathryn Moss brings over 30 years of tax and accounting experience to round out the team at Shapiro Baer. With a keen interest in not-for-profit organizations, she is also an expert in handling estates and personal taxation.
